Indio Contractors to Build New High School

July 7, 2009 – The Desert Sands Unified School District board of education has made the decision to move forward with the construction of a brand new Indio High School. The $84.8 million project is going to be constructed on the softball and baseball fields of the current Indio High School, allowing classes to continue during construction.  Included in the new construction are a swimming pool, administration building, and library, among other buildings.  After the new development is completed, the old school will be demolished and in its place will be various courts and athletic fields.

The rebuilding of the 50-year-old campus could present a tremendous award for the selected Riverside general contractor.  Also neighboring contractors, from Palm Desert electricians to Palm Springs plumbers, could benefit from the enormous project.

It is expected that the next year and a half will be devoted to creation of design and plans and identification of sub-contractors.  Construction is likely to begin in early 2011 and last through 2013.
