450 Texas Road Projects to Receive Stimulus Funding

March 7, 2010 – On Monday, the Federal government agreed to release $26 billion in stimulus funding for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) road construction. It is expected that around 450 projects in Texas will directly benefit from the stimulus dollars. ARRA funds will help cover the $12 million in Central Texas highway projects awarded last month, which is welcome news to Waco contractors on the payroll.

Bastrop contractors will be glad to hear that a $4.8 million turning-lane project for F.M. 20 now has funding.

Waco Construction of $30M Research Center

October 29, 2009 – Baylor University recently chipped-in $10 million to get a $30 million research center construction project moving. The project will involve converting the old General Tire plant at Orchard Lane and South Loop into a state-of-the-art technology research park.  Construction is set to begin in the spring of 2010, with an expected completion sometime in 2012.  Waco contractors are extremely excited about the opportunities presented by this large project.

The new research center will utilize aspects of the existing building whenever possible.  For instance, the concrete, heavily supported floor will be ideal for performing experiments.  The construction will include 30,000 of meeting space, new parking facilities, and a new roof.  The completed research center is expected to bring billions of dollars to the local economy, not to mention the Waco electricians and Waco HVAC contractors who will be put to work during the building process.
