Detroit Could See Construction of $550M Canadian Bridge

April 29, 2010 – The state of Michigan has until June 1st to accept a $550 million loan offer from Canada to help fund the construction of a new bridge between Detroit and Windsor, Canada. The bridge would help facilitate trading between the regions and would mean hundreds of construction jobs for the likes of Detroit general contractors and other Detroit builders.

The current Ambassador Bridge would not be affected by the proposed project.

Flagler Bridge to Break Ground in 2011

City officials are still hashing out the design, debating between a contemporary or traditional design, but all parties seem to agree that the project will break ground in 2011.  The Flagler Memorial Bridge construction will bring around one hundred jobs to the region’s ailing construction industry, and West Palm Beach contractors in particular.

In its functionality, the new bridge will differ from the existing bridge in that the new will not span Flagler Drive, but instead will end at a to-be-created intersection with Flagler Drive.  West Palm Beach electricians are closely following the City’s discussions about the bridge’s lighting.  The state Department of Transportation is presently in talks with the City to split the cost of higher-end lighting with the local government.

Haley Bridge Replacement for Santa Barbara Contractors

October 11, 2009 – A $12 million bridge replacement project is in the works for Santa Barbara’s bridge over Mission Creek at the corner of Haley and De La Vina. The project, which has been being hashed-out since 2001, is intended to create a more structurally robust bridge and the alleviate flooding.  Santa Barbara contractors are very excited to see this project moving closer to construction.

The present expectation is for construction to commence near the end of this year and last until mid-2011.  The new structure will be 15 feet longer and should aid the water flow to the flora and fauna which depend upon Mission Creek.  Oxnard contractors as well as Ventura contractors are also expected to vie for sub-contracting roles on this federal and Measure D funded project.
