Warren, MI City College to Construct Auto Center

September 12, 2010 – Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan has been bestowed with a $1.4 million grant from the National Science Foundation to create a Center for Advanced Automotive Technology. It can be assumed that some construction will be required for the establishment of a devoted facility, which is welcome news to Warren general contractors and Detroit general contractors.

If the initial two year trial program has successes, then the National Science Foundation has pledged an additional $1.5 million.

Pellston Airport in Northern Michigan Receives $5M Federal Funding

August 20, 2010 – With a total price tag of close to $8 million, the Pellston Regional Airport construction project has been awarded $5 million in funding from the Federal Aviation Administration. The undertaking is expected to start within a year’s time, and should mean steady employment to the likes of Petoskey general contractors and Cheboygan roofing contractors.

Approximately 20 subcontractors will be supervised by DeVere Construction, of Alpena.

Lake Winds Park Construction in Mason County, MI in 2012

Detroit Could See Construction of $550M Canadian Bridge

April 29, 2010 – The state of Michigan has until June 1st to accept a $550 million loan offer from Canada to help fund the construction of a new bridge between Detroit and Windsor, Canada. The bridge would help facilitate trading between the regions and would mean hundreds of construction jobs for the likes of Detroit general contractors and other Detroit builders.

The current Ambassador Bridge would not be affected by the proposed project.

Green Industry Bringing Construction Jobs to Michigan

$800M to be Invested in Detroit, MI Medical Facilities

$3B Lake Michigan Wind Farm in the Works

February 23, 2010 – The construction of a controversial wind farm is being discussed for Lake Michigan off the shore of Pentwater. The current proposal by the developer Skandia is for a $3 billion wind turbine facility. Though the project could mean hundreds of jobs for Big Rapids contractors and other area tradesmen, locals are against the idea of the turbines diminishing their lakefront tourism.

Skandia’s 100 square mile project is currently being revised to address home and business owner’s concerns. When construction finally moves forward, Cadillac contractors, among others, are expected to compete heavily for sub positions on the project.
